Open Letter
Dearest Reader,
Every human has an inalienable right to step through the portal of a book, journey to a new land, and experience how others think and feel and live. Real or imagined, logical or emotional, historical or contemporary or futuristic or fantastical, stories beckon us to step outside the confines of our own lives and think, feel, stretch, expand, grow.
The gateway to all learning, reading gives us access to the thoughts of great authors, philosophers, mathematicians, scientists, historians, leaders, and citizens of ages past. Reading enables us to develop skills like software programming, engineering, analysis, language and culture fluency, . . .
As we read consistently, and our reading skill and hunger for learning grow, our reading skill improves, our life capacity increases.
We become the embodiments of our lived experiences AND the vicarious experiences we’ve internalized via reading. Through books, I’ve inhaled myriad ideas outside the realms family and friends, lived thousands of lifetimes, seen millions of decisions and consequences. Those journeys continue to enrich, challenge, enliven, arm, and inspire me. The characters I meet along the way weave into the fabric of my identity.
My hope is for all to fully experience the gifts of reading. To that end, I invite you to explore my blog and step into a book. If you don’t find your match right away, keep trying. Worlds await…
